About the itemAnother find from fossil collecting days, this tiny trilobite, whose species name is "Elrathia kingii " is a perfectly formed example of an animal who existed over 250 million years ago. Trilobites were swimmers, but their flexible bodies enabled them to curl up, much like the modern day woodlouse. Found in soft shales, trilobites of the Elrathia species fossilize perfectly leaving behind these distinctive fossils.Often found in the USA (where I found this one) they were prized by native american indians who often wore them as talismans against sickness and gunshot wounds. Whilst you may not need its protection against gunslinging, it can be worn to satisfy your other whims, or indeed, just because it looks good! Our tiny trilobite measures 15 x 11 mm and looks great teamed with our other fossil charms , or with your favourite gemstone.OTHER METALS : This charm is available on the site in sterling silver, but can be made in gold, platinum or palladium by special order.
